This is the Latest News Page for the Wiltshire Wet Leo's

August 2010 : We held our first test day of the season in June and all the dogs did very well, we had lovely weather and everyone pulled together to support all the people who took part.

We have to say a huge thank you to our judges for the day, John Tyler, Gordon Ashfield and Chris Abbot. A special thank you has to go to our Stewards on the day Fiona Parry, Bonnie Hopkins and Emma Field also our fabulous boatman Colin Brown, without these people the day would have been impossible for me to organise as test manager doing the paperwork.

We completed 6 A level tests, all passed, we also saw 2 B level test passes, sadly our C level dogs were not quite ready and we shall continue to work on the areas in need ready for the next test day.

We have started a new structure for training that will help to progress the dogs ready for the next test and everyone is making excellent progress.

Well until next time, enjoy your Leo's. WWL.

May 2010 : Well we have a few weeks of news for you. The wet Leos are well and truly back in the water, with 4 sessions under out belts each day with good training in great weather we have had a fantastic start to the season.

Firstly our experience dogs and owners are all doing well, most are progressing well towards their 'B' and 'C' tests, and all making marked improvements in their skills working well with each other and as part of our team.

Our newer members and dogs are also doing really well and I can see no reason why that should not pass their A tests this year with just a little more work.

I have uploaded some of the images taken this year so far to the gallery for 2010 so please feel free to take a look. Thanks to Rob for sharing some of his photo's with us.

This month we also celebrated Fiona's birthday which happened to fall on the day of one of our sessions, we threw her a surprise birthday bash all bringing some food and drink and a big yummy chocolate birthday cake which disappeared almost as quickly as it was unwrapped. Fiona is a key member of our Wet Leos Team and without her endless enthusiasm and dedication (and as one member shouted out on the day complete and utter madness) we would not be able to run the group so effectively, so a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY FIONA from everyone. For a picture of Fiona decked out in her birthday presents click here.

June will see us preparing for our Test Day which will be held on the 26th at the Cotswold Sailing Club in Wiltshire. Anyone wishing to attend and take part in our test day can download a copy here or request a copy of the schedule from me Becki. Closing date is 22nd June.

Well we shall be back in a month to let you know how our test day has gone, here's hoping for warm, calm weather and good spirits (of the non-alcoholic kind).

Until next time.

Bye for now WWL

April 2010 : Just a short note to confirm that training is going ahead this Saturday 17th April. See you all there, lets hope the sun comes out.....and the water has warmed up....

April 2010: Well firstly an important message: this Saturdays, 3rd April, wet leos session, the first of this new season, has had to be postponed, this is due to a very bad and very cold weather that the country is currently tolerating. Its much too cold to risk going in and safety must come first so we have to delay until the 17th April when hopefully the bad weather will have passed and the water will have warmed up just enough to allow us to take the plunge.

In other news some of the wet leos members got together for a pre-season lunch, which is becoming a bit of a tradition, at a lovely pub in Cirencester called the Waggon and Horses, 11 of us had a lovely lunch and chat all about dogs, the new season and what we plan to do with our year. It was lovely to catch up with everyone and we thank Lexi for organising this event for us again.

One thing is certain, we are all looking forward to getting into the water and with some new members who have joined this year, we look forward to introducing them to you on their journey through the learning curve that is about to happen for them. We hope to have some video clips this year to add to the gallery section so you can see our dogs at work. We will have some other breeds of dogs joining us this year, we are fortunate enough to have a Newfoundland joining the team she is called Lola and is owned by one of our new members Tracey, we will also have a puppy Spanish Water Dog owned by existing member Penny, so it will be nice to see a bit of diversity in our group.

I hope to be back in 3 weeks time with a report on how our first session went.

Bye for now, WWL.

January 2010 : Its been a while since the last update so here is our latest news:-We have this years dates confirmed with our venues hosts and our contract has been renewed for 2010 with the CSC. As ever they have our gratitude for giving us a permanent home and we very much look forward to another very successful years training at their lovely site.

The new dates are now up on the training sessions page and we will hopefully be able to complete a total of 16 session with 2 test days planned. If you are interested in coming along to one of the sessions to see what the dogs can do and what we get up to please take a look, but don't forget to let us know you are coming by contacting Becki so that we can arrange for you to be let into the site as this is an access by appointment only site.

The WWL group is meeting again in March for a pre-season lunch and we thank Lexi once again for organising this event and members should contact Lexi to let her know you wish to come.

If you would like more information on water work with dogs, contact Becki.

Hope to have some more exciting news about our group very soon so come back again to see what we have to say. WWL.
